This November, vote yes for "Dr. No."
The nickname, pinned on Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama by the clever McCain camp, is an attempt to criticize Obama's "opposition" to offshore oil drilling, a summer gas tax holiday, expanding investment in nuclear energy and a $300 million cash incentive to create a more efficient car battery.

It started on a Wednesday. Nineteen days later, a king was dead. Eleven months from then, the freshman king would trade his throne for the love of an American divorcee and a brother Windsor would take his place.
In the cycle of these three kings, a civil war had begun in Spain, 16 enemies of Stalin were purged from the Soviet Union, Ethiopia became the newest accessory in the Boot's collection, the Green Hornet and the Phantom made their debuts in America while FDR was elected to his first encore performance and two international sporting competitions were held in Nazi Germany - the IV Winter Olympic Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the XI Summer Olympic Games in Berlin.

As I was perusing my e-mail box the other day, another message looking like what I call "scare-mail" popped into sight from grandma. Granny is quite fond of sending me tales that have been forwarded on, warning me about walking to my car alone after leaving the mall, informing me of salmonella-laced jalapeños, telling me to call this number so the telemarketers will leave me alone, or letting me know when the next great quake is probably going to rattle California loose from its topsoil.

I've been trying to think of various (legal) ways to make some fast cash, and a recent conversation led me to a compelling prospect: egg donation. Heck, I'm not using my eggs. Why not sell them to someone who's willing to pay top dollar for them? It's a free market, right? People and organizations will pay thousands for an egg donor, I was told recently.

In a time when the "war on drugs" can be considered a huge waste of time and resources and smoking pot is considered mainstream, how does the owner of a community-welcomed medicinal marijuana dispensary get arrested and convicted of multiple felonies? As the Mustang Daily reports on the front page today, Central Coast resident Charles Lynch was found guilty last week on all federal counts for selling medical marijuana from his dispensary in Morro Bay.
